Well, this was certainly a shock.
To be nominated was honour enough, but to be judged by a panel of your peers to be worthy of an award was just stunning.
There is so much that goes into being a teacher that it almost feels fraudulent to be or to pick a 'winner'.
The evening was a huge success thanks to the organisational powerhouse that is Jas Rohel; CEO of the Education Awards. She is committed to ensuring that the work of teachers and education across the region (and now the UK) will not be forgotten.
Most of our staff family were able to join us for evening which was filled with excellent music from Dr. Tru Powell's Aston Academy of Performing Arts (AAPA) and, of course, food and drink a'plenty!
As a school, we have been nominated several times for different categories for the Education Awards, in fact 3 gongs have been given to Sally and I over the years but this one is so special.
A huge thank you to Sally for nominating me, for Siobhan for gathering such lovely feedback and to the judges for deeming me worthy of the win.
